Stirling Hillwalking Club
Guidelines for members

Picture
Membership is open to anyone with no restrictions in terms of age, sex or race.

Prospective members will be welcome to walk with the club on two occasions before deciding whether or not to join.

The membership fees are currently £2 per year per person over 16, payable on joining and thereafter at the time of the AGM in April.

Each walker taking part on any walk must take personal responsibility for his/her own safety and to this end must ensure that they are properly equipped for changing conditions in the hills. Read our Disclaimer Notice.
Essential equipment includes:
  • Hillwalking boots
  • Wind and waterproof clothing
  • Adequate food and drink
  • Emergency equipment, eg survival bag, first aid kit, whistle and torch
If you are new to rambling and hill walking, you may be interested in the Guide to Equipment page.

If you are in any doubt as to your fitness for a particular walk, you should discuss this with the walk leader or a member of the committee.

Dogs are allowed provided they are well disciplined and under control at all times. However, many walks are over sheep country so please check with the walk leader first.

Club members usually meet up at a designated point in Stirling and share transport to the start of the walk. Passengers contribute to the cost of fuel.
